A New Generation of "Face-to-Face" Conversations

"Face-to-face" has taken on a new meaning around the world since 2020. Few had dreamed that a video conference could be classified as face-to-face, but in today's world of home office, remote, work, hybrid, and in-office, face-to-face is beginning to mean "I can see your face".

What started out 20 years ago as "in a conference room, as a group, face-to-face" sessions has evolved into the digital space. Innovative Management Tools dedicated 6 months to convert the 30 "kits" into interactive whiteboard experiences, now referred to as Conversation Frameworks in the space we like to call Conversation Management. We shy away from the generic label of "Change Management" because that seems too broad and all-encompassing.

Conversation Frameworks are exactly as the term suggests: a structured framework and process for a specific topic to guide a conversation with a group of participants.

Some fundamental benefits have emerged with the digital delivery versions, namely:

  • Participants can be anywhere in the world and still participate.
  • Sessions can be run in a hybrid environment, meaning some are in the office connected to the board while some are remote.
  • Sessions do not need to be completed in one session. In the "old days", a session needed to be completed in one sitting because after the meeting the wall of cards needed to come down. Since 2020, meetings have shortened. Long sessions of 3 to 4 hours, while still an option, are becoming less of the norm. Virtual meetings have normalized to an hour, if not less. The new digital versions of the Conversation Frameworks allow a session to be divided into smaller chunks, adapting to the schedules and availability of the participants.
  • And finally, with the digital versions, revisiting previous session results and conducting an update, "Round 2", or status meeting on Action Items is faster, more effective, and immediately documented,
